Prince Holding Group ("Prince Group"), one of Cambodia's largest and fastest-growing conglomerates, is pleased to announce that Ms. Chutth Chenda, a Cambodian employee of Prince Real Estate, has won first place in the Cambodia ASEAN Chairmanship logo design competition organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation ("MFAIC"). Chenda was one of four employees of Prince who participated.
Chenda got a US$1,000 cash prize from MFAIC for her winning entry. To demonstrate their appreciation for her efforts and accomplishments, Prince Group's management has decided to match the financial prize with an equal gift. As a sign of thanks, the remaining three participants will also receive token prizes. MFAIC formally unveiled the winning logo design on 28 October, the day Cambodia symbolically assumed the ASEAN chairmanship from Brunei in an official ceremony.
ASEAN, officially the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is Southeast Asia's preeminent economic union, advancing the member states' interests. The annual ASEAN Summit, which will be hosted in Cambodia next year, will be a watershed moment in the region's post-pandemic recovery, since the sessions will be closely monitored internationally and attended by regional and global leaders, senior officials, and key decision makers. Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship emblem will be the most recognisable picture of Cambodia's chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022, and will live on in the Kingdom's history and ASEAN's archival records.
The winning logo design features ten lotus petals around by a golden circle bearing the ASEAN symbol. Chenda noted that it embodies the collaborative efforts of the ten ASEAN member countries in their peaceful pursuit of development and harmony. The hue of the ten layers of lotus petals is a representation of the national flag of Cambodia, to reflect Cambodia's role as ASEAN's Chair and host country in 2022.
Chenda, 29, who joined Prince Real Estate in 2020, said she enjoyed doodles in her spare time and was encouraged to enter the competition by her coworkers. She expressed surprise that her entry was chosen as the winning logo, but added that the logo also symbolised her desire that the ten ASEAN nations will continue to collaborate in order to tackle the obstacles they confront individually and collectively and achieve ASEAN's sustainable development.
“At Prince Group, we are always delighted to see our employees take part in making a difference to the broader community and Chenda’s contribution is an excellent example of the civic mindedness we seek to champion as an organization,” said Gabriel Tan, Chief Communications Officer of Prince Holding Group. “We sincerely hope the winning logo will be a source of pride for Cambodians and as a local firm, we look forward to doing more to support Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship initiatives in 2022.”
The ASEAN Chairmanship rotates annually in accordance with the ASEAN member nations' alphabetical sequence. Cambodia became a member of the regional forum in April 1999 and held the leadership for the last time in 2012.
Although the majority of Prince Group's activities take place in Cambodia, Neak Oknha Chen Zhi, or Cambodia Chenzhi, Chairman of Prince Group, recently gave US$1 million to the Laotian government in response to local authorities' demand to boost bilateral collaboration in combating the pandemic. Prince Group was also recently awarded by Enterprise Asia at the 2021 Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards ("AREA") for their commitment to responsible entrepreneurship. It was the Group's sixth award this year, as regional and international judging panels acknowledged it as a leading Asian corporation advocating sustainable development in Cambodia and throughout the ASEAN region.
